About

FlameFold is a consultancy for long-lived Ember.js applications. We keep mature Ember apps healthy, current, and shippable — and when the right answer is to move off Ember, we run that migration incrementally, without a rewrite.

Why Ember, specifically

Ember made a bet most frameworks didn't: strong conventions, stability without stagnation, and upgrade paths measured in codemods rather than rewrites. The apps built on that bet — many of them now the systems their companies run on — deserve engineers who know the framework deeply rather than generalists learning it on the clock. That's the practice we've built: Octane idioms, Embroider builds, the addon ecosystem's actual maintenance reality, and the upgrade discipline that keeps an old app feeling current.

What we believe

• Boring is a feature. A mature app that ships every week is an asset. Our job is to protect that, whether the future is Ember or something else.
• Honesty over pitch. Because we're paid hourly for upgrades and migrations alike, we can give a keep-vs-migrate recommendation with no agenda behind it.
• No big bangs. Incremental upgrades, incremental conversions, incremental migrations. The app stays deployable throughout, every time.
• Leave the team stronger. Knowledge transfer is part of the engagement, not an add-on.
